Congratulations to Penguin's Tom Dean who, as result of the Club's nomination, is being put forward by British Swimming to the final selection in the London 2012 Ticketshare scheme. The winners, decided by the British Olympic Association, will win a ticket to the Games, potentially in the company of a former Olympian. 

Well done, Tom! We wish you luck.

Join us for a day of swimming and water polo activities on Saturday 23 July as part of the national London 2012 Open Weekend.

This is a great opportunity to have some fun while promoting our Club to potential new members and using some free water time for training and fitness.

We're aiming to make this into a social event for all sections of Penguin so come along and bring a picnic. Family and friends are welcome.

The programme is:

11.00-13.00 Masters swimming in the 50m open air pool. Steve Baker offering coaching and technique advice

14.00-15.00 Beat the Water Polo Goalie

15.00-16.00 Pick Up Game

16.00-18.00 Fives - a fun water polo tournament with teams made up at random from Penguin and members of the public

There will also be lots of other free taster activities going on throughout the sports complex that you can join in.

Congratulations to Claire Martin and husband James on the birth last week of their new daughter Amy Louise Scott, pictured here with her brother Mark.

In her June blog Francesca relates the GB Team's recent matches at World League in Barcelona and Athens, and looks ahead to their next Euro Qualifier in Spain.

Our men's first team remain unbeaten in the London League Premier Division following their latest matches at Whitgift on 12 June.

We took a narrow 9-7 win over Poly, but our victory in the next match against Beckenham was more comprehensive at 20-5.

Congratulations to Albie Duffy, Joe Ortiz, Max Dewhurst and Venu Manikavasagar (goalkeeper) who have been selected to play in the London Region team at the inter-region tournament at Basildon on weekend of 25/26 June 2011.

Some of our older members recently visited Malta and have sent this photo along with a challenge to name the Penguin players featured in the image and guess their combined ages!

The winner will receive a Penguin hoodie.
